Coco-Pazzo is an excellent Italian place!

Topolobampo and Frontera Grill are tasty mexican.

I prefer Gino's East if we're talking about Pizza...it's all about the corn meal crust!

Sopraffina has excellent salads and pizza for lunch M-F.

Potbelly is cheap and good toasted sandwiches.

Portillos is a classic for Hot-dogs!

Oh and i almost forgot, Paradise Pup for burgers is really awesome! That merkt's cheese is sooo good on it!

Depends on whether you're limiting yourself to the downtown area or the Chicago metro area. At any rate, both of my answers are German restaurants. Berghoff's on Adams St. is my favorite in town. Absolutely wonderful proprietary beers, the food is to die for, and the desserts are worth every penny. Plus the interior is quite nice, and it's right in the middle of a lot of really cool places, literally walking distance to most of the best museums, the symphony hall, and of course, the lake! Out in the suburbs, Chef Paul's Bavarian Restaurant in Lisle takes the cake--literally. I had the best piece of Black Forest Cherry Cake I've ever tasted in my life there, and the food and beer were absolutely fabulous.

If you're looking for Korean food, Chicago Kalbi comes recommended. There's a wall of pictures (Chicago Bulls - the Jordan era)

How about Japanese? Try Kohan near UIC.

So many choices. Chicago is a wonderful restaurant town.

For a classy, nice dinner out, I would recommend:

Spring (Wicker Park)

La Fette (Old Town)

Narcisse (River North)

But don't neglect all the wonderful ethnic spots, either!
